Amazon, Uber, and Airbnb are disruptive because they are 1) cheaper and 2) produce a better user experience. In other words, they are an improvement. Disruption is not a strategy. Improvement is a strategy. When improvement is compelling enough, disruption is the outcome.’

Nike’s audacious bid to break the two hour marathon barrier in 2017. The company is training three top runners in an attempt to break the record. The current target is held by Dennis Kimetto of Kenya, set at the Berlin Marathon in 2014.
There was some interesting talk at Wired Health this year about the increasing power of technology in healthcare. It may seem a way off, but this piece from Raconteur is right when it says that technology may be our best chance of saving the NHS.
From @arstechnica, a review of Late Shift, the world’s first cinematic interactive movie. An interesting exercise, but not one popular with the critic who wrote this piece. ‘There are some fundamental problems with Late Shift. It felt very jarring when my choice was in the minority, and when the protagonist did the exact opposite of what I wanted.’ In the words of the promoters then, ‘Does the protagonist kiss the girl? Kill the old man? Steal the car? You decide.’
Channel 4 is to air a 50mph freefall dive stunt as live ad break for ‘Assassin’s Creed’. Of course Channel 4 first had this idea for Honda back in 2008, with a live sky dive in an adbreak; based around the theme of Difficult Is Worth Doing.
